You Don’t Need More Information. You Need More Courage.

TRUTH — Observation No. 003

For years, I convinced myself I needed one more course.

One more strategy.

One more person to tell me how they did it.

One more expert to confirm that the thing I was thinking made sense.

One more piece of information before I moved.

And information is useful.

Until it becomes a hiding place.

Because at some point, I had to admit something to myself:

I didn't need to know more.

I already knew enough to move.

What I needed was the courage to trust what I knew.

Fear Doesn’t Always Look Like Fear

I think we imagine fear as this obvious thing.

I'm scared.

I can't do it.

I'm not ready.

But fear is smarter than that.

Sometimes fear sounds incredibly responsible.

Maybe I should research it a little more.

Maybe I should wait until the timing is better.

Maybe I should ask a few more people what they think.

Maybe I need to learn more before I'm qualified to do this.

And sometimes:

Well, they said…

That's the dangerous one.

Because fear doesn't always sound like fear. Sometimes it sounds like someone else's opinion.

And if you hear that opinion enough times, eventually you stop recognizing that it didn't start with you.

I Used to Trust Myself Faster

That's something I've been thinking about a lot lately.

There were seasons of my life when I didn't have nearly as much information as I have now.

I didn't have the courses.

I didn't have the experts.

I didn't have thousands of people online explaining the exact seven steps I needed to follow.

I had an idea.

I had instinct.

And I moved.

Somehow, with fewer resources and less information, I trusted myself more.

Then somewhere along the way, I started collecting voices.

People who knew better.

People who had done it before.

People with bigger platforms.

People with impressive titles.

People who loved me and were trying to protect me.

People who didn't understand what I was building at all.

And after enough time, all of those voices started sounding like my own.

The loudest voice in my life was never theirs. It was mine after I started believing them.

That's a very different problem.

Because you can walk away from somebody else's opinion.

It's much harder when you've internalized it.

More Information Won’t Make the Decision for You

There's a point where research stops being preparation.

It becomes procrastination with better branding.

You can read another book.

Save another post.

Buy another course.

Ask another friend.

Watch another masterclass.

Make another pros-and-cons list.

And eventually, you're going to arrive right back at the same place:

You still have to choose.

No amount of information can remove all the risk.

No expert can promise you that you're making the right decision.

No strategy can guarantee that the thing you build will work.

At some point, the question stops being:

Do I know enough?

And becomes:

Do I trust myself enough to move with what I know?

Courage Isn't Certainty

That's another thing I think we get wrong.

We think courageous people aren't afraid.

We think they know.

We think they have some level of certainty the rest of us don't have.

But courage isn't knowing it's going to work.

Courage is deciding that you're willing to find out.

It's publishing the thing before everyone understands it.

It's changing direction when the old direction no longer feels like yours.

It's leaving something you've outgrown without having the entire next chapter mapped out.

It's trusting the idea that keeps coming back.

It's letting your own opinion count.

Maybe even letting it count first.

The Truth

There will always be more information.

Another strategy.

Another opinion.

Another person willing to tell you what they would do if they were you.

But they're not you.

And maybe the next version of your life isn't waiting for you to learn something else.

Maybe she's waiting for you to trust something you already know.

Because there comes a point when another answer isn't going to change your life.

A decision will.

An action will.

A risk might.

Courage will.

So before you search for one more answer, ask yourself a different question:

What do I already know that I'm afraid to trust?

And then maybe the question that matters most:

What would courage look like this week?
